The Mahanadi Education Society (MEDS) came into existence in the year 1994 when a group of technocrats, industrialists, professionals and persons with background in the field of technical education came together to work for providing avenues of higher education for the common people. The Society was registered with the Registrar of Firms & Societies, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in the year 1994.The first institution to be established by the Society was the Engineering College Raipur Institute of Technology, Raipur at Chhatauna, Mandir Hasaud, Raipur.
